Canadian employers struggling to find highly skilled employees raise wages for economic immigrants to tackle the labour shortages. The Statistics Canada report, Longitudinal Immigration Database: Immigrants’ Income Trajectories During The Initial Years Since Admission, compared the wages of immigrants, who came to Canada in 2017 and 2018 and revealed that immigrants admitted to Canada in 2018 received 4.2% higher wage than those admitted in 2017. In addition, in 2019, the median wage of economic immigrants was $43,600, which is 12.4 percent higher than the Canadian median wage.
